Local artists leading local workshops | New

Three new workshops led by local artists have been added to the Penticton and District Community Arts Council’s June offerings.

All classes are held at the Leir House Cultural Center, 220 Manor Park Ave.

Next Saturday, June 4, from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m., George L. Traicheff will host a free session entitled Prints and Reproductions: Almost Everything You Need to Know!

Traicheff will discuss the differences between original prints and reproductions, present examples and field questions.

Although there is no charge to attend, pre-registration is required.

On Saturday June 18, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., Janvier Kraut will lead the initiation to encaustic iron workshop.

Students will learn to paint with encaustic iron using a plain and pigmented medium based on beeswax. The paintings will be embellished with oil sticks, pan pastels, inks and many other materials.

The cost is $40 and all supplies are included.

The final workshop on Saturday, June 25, from 1 to 4 p.m., is Eco Prints with Alice Strohmaier.

Strohmaier will guide students through the eco-printing process. Participants will collect foliage from the grounds of Leir House and their teacher will provide a variety of other leaves to try. Students can also bring sheets from home. Each will make two draws and one card.

The cost is $40 and all supplies are included.

To register for one of the workshops, call 250-492-7997 or visit www.pentictonartscouncil.com.
