PATNA: Minister of State Road Construction Nitin Nabin on Wednesday inaugurated a state-of-the-art command and control center (CCC) and launched a mobile road maintenance application, aiming at better monitoring of existing and future road projects.
Speaking on the occasion, Nabin said that the CCC and road maintenance application will cover roads with a total length of 13,064 km spread over 43 road divisions in the state. He asserted that the new system will operate on a single platform to access road monitoring details by engineers and department officials.
“All engineers in the department will be able to upload real-time photographs (including latitude and longitude) of road damages and defects to the system. As soon as the photographs are uploaded, contractors, civil servants as well as senior officers concerned at HQ will get the information from the CCC and take corrective action,” said the RCD Minister said.
Nabin added that the road maintenance app has a “disappearing history” feature, which can provide a detailed history of damage on any road and time period for its restoration. “The new system will also have functionality to ensure site inspection by engineers for the restoration of damaged roads. In addition, drones will be used for monitoring purposes,” Nabin said.
Elaborating further, Nabin said a unique identifier has been provided to all road construction department engineers as well as contractor representatives. “All engineers were tagged in the system according to location and road division. One assistant engineer, one junior engineer and one representative of a contractor in each road project received online training on the operation of the system “, did he declare.
Senior officials present on the occasion, including Additional Chief Secretary (Road Construction) Pratyaya Amrit, Secretary Sandeep Kumar R Pudakalkatti and additional secretary Shailja Sharma among others.
